Flawless, no… Forgiven, yes!
The world tries to tell us we should be flawless. We see this idea everywhere we look in our world today. We have forgotten the truth that we are all sinners and we all make mistakes. As a society, we have also left behind the truth that we are forgiven for our flaws because of our flawless Savior. Instead of telling people they are flawless, it is time we start telling them they are forgiven.
Often in our world today, our culture tries to tell us that we are flawless. We even start spreading this message to children at a young age. I have seen young children wearing shirts that say “Flawless.” The children probably don’t even realize what the word means but we are exposing them to the idea that people can be flawless. We are giving them the idea that they are flawless and don’t make any mistakes. It also gives a message to the people around them that they are perfect.
This message has also become very common in pop culture. We see so many celebrities appear to be flawless. We feel bad about ourselves because the famous people seem to live such perfect lives, flawless in outward appearance and in their actions. They hide their flaws which leads us to believe that we should also be flawless.
The truth is, nobody is flawless. It is an impossible standard to try to live up to because we are all sinners. No matter how hard we try to be flawless, we are always going to make mistakes as we go through our lives. Our culture has forgotten the truth that we are all sinners and exchanged it for an idea that we can be flawless if we try hard enough.
This idea is destructive because it leads us to be disappointed in ourselves when we make mistakes. Our society has told us that we can be flawless. This leads us to feel that we are letting ourselves and others down when we mess up. We believe we are supposed to live our lives without flaws. Truly, that will never happen and we exhaust ourselves trying to live up to this standard.
Thankfully, God knows that we are going to make mistakes. He knows we are sinners and that is why He sent His Son to die for our sins. Jesus was the only person to ever be completely flawless. Our Savior came to be flawless for us because He knew we all have flaws. We need to recognize that we are never going to be flawless and accept Jesus as our flawless Savior.
Instead of telling our children and friends they are flawless, we should remind them they are forgiven. It is impossible to be flawless but because of Jesus, we know we are forgiven for our flaws.
This is so good and true!! I wish everyone in the world could read it.
Yes! I pray God uses this to speak to whoever needs to hear it. So many people think they are supposed to be flawless and that is just not the truth!
